Overview

When earnings decline and liquidity tightens, cash flow management determines the room to maneuver. Banks expect reliable numbers, shareholders clear prospects. I take on operational responsibility to make liquidity transparent, manage it actively and safeguard the ability to act.

With reliable cash flow planning, clear prioritization and communication that brings financing partners and shareholders along. Drawn from experience in reorganization and crisis situations, where liquidity decides survival.

Situations

Typical situations under liquidity pressure

As Managing Director with full P&L responsibility, together with two other managing directors I made liquidity the central steering metric during the COVID crisis: With around 33 million euros in revenue and about 100 employees, revenue and incoming payments collapsed practically overnight. In this situation the cash position was actively managed on a daily basis, instead of relying on planned figures.
‍
Disbursements were prioritized, the cost base radically adjusted to the new reality, financing and funding options tapped and negotiated reliably with banks and shareholders, all under maximum time pressure.
‍
Result: secured solvency in an existential crisis and a company that stayed able to act. This experience shapes my cash management to this day: fast, reliable, close to reality.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions: Liquidity & Cash Flow Management

What does liquidity management by an interim manager include?

A rolling cash flow forecast, prioritisation of incoming and outgoing payments, adjustment of the cost base and communication with banks and shareholders. In a crisis, cash is managed closely and actively instead of relying on budget figures.

Who does what: Jens or Loretta Schneiders?

Jens Schneiders manages liquidity operationally and leads the talks with financing partners. Loretta Schneiders provides the numbers behind it: clean accounting, reliable reporting and actively managed working capital. Both are available separately or combined.

Where are the fastest levers for more liquidity?

Usually in working capital: collecting receivables consistently, managing payment terms and payment runs, reviewing inventory. Add to that the prioritisation of payments and an adjusted cost base. The initial transparency analysis shows which levers work.

Does interim management also help with financing and public funding?

Yes, operationally: identifying financing and funding options, preparing figures and documents and negotiating with banks and shareholders on a sound basis, as during the COVID-19 crisis at erlebe-fernreisen. It is not loan brokerage or legal advice.

Is liquidity management only worthwhile in a crisis?

No. Robust cash flow management pays off before things get tight. That leaves more time for decisions and for talks with financing partners.
